My name is Lydia Schaefer and I am a natural light, lifestyle family photographer and high school senior photographer. And I LOVE what I do! Being able to capture both - the beautiful everyday moments of a lifestyle session as well as the more creative senior sessions - is honestly the best!
I was born and raised in the Toledo area - living in Point Place until grade 6 and then moving out to Whitehouse and graduating from Anthony Wayne High School. I like to joke that I had a 'surf & turf' childhood - starting with boating, fishing, ice skating in the Point and then moving onto a farm with horses, participating in 4-H and my high school Equestrian Team.
I graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a degree in Microbiology - only to find out that it wasn't the right path for me. So, after lots of trial and error in different jobs, trying to figure what I wanted 'to be when I grew up' (haha)... I finally realized that the only constant was my love of photography. And here I am. Finally. Doing exactly what I was meant to do - creating beautiful, personality-filled images that tell your unique story!
Thankfully, I have a loving and super supportive husband that enables me to pursue this passion of mine. As well as a spunky, 2.5 year old daughter who keeps me on my toes and is constantly reminding me how beautiful and exciting life really is. And it is these two beautiful humans that give my life so much meaning and reason to be the best version of me possible. <3
Growing up in Point Place was a special part of my childhood. One of my fondest memories includes my pet duck, which I named Darkwing (because, well he had dark wings, but also and at the time there was a cartoon that I watched called "Darkwing Duck", so it seemed fitting, haha). So, since my photography style revolves around telling stories of families and showcasing the individual personalities of seniors, I wanted the name to be unique to my own story. Thus, Darkwing Photography was created! :)
